I grew up in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and received my BA (Hons.) in Political Science from St. Thomas University. I went on to complete my MA and PhD at the University of Calgary (I was interviewed about my time there — you can find that interview here).
My doctoral research examined judicial decision-making in parliamentary states that have recently adopted bills or charters of rights, comparing the growth of judicial power in Canada, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. A revised version of this project has since been published as a book with University of Toronto Press.
